Managing Compressor Technology & Projects (GCT3) |
MSE recognises that compressors and drivers are long-lead items
that can take you from 12 to18 months to deliver from order
placement, in addition to the time taken for the design and
selection process. With typical costs varying between $20-100m,
depending on the project size, approval of your company board and
partners will also be necessary.
Keeping in mind the high cost gas compression system ownership,
this course examines alternative strategies adopted by operating
companies for management of technology, such as vendor
alliances; contractor alliances; self reliance and hybrids.
Which is your best option? …..What are the hidden costs?
MSE also appreciates how the 80-20 principle is
highly-applicable to the compressor technology you use in the
oil and gas industry. We know that that 80% of the plant capital
and operating cost is governed by 20% of the equipment. Get this
right and your risks are reduced while the profitability of your
asset is improved. With over 330 successfully completed
compression projects, MSE is qualified to provide you with
candid feedback in this one day event.
Successful case studies are presented throughout, identifying
common pitfalls and their solutions.
The course aims to provide you with an understanding of the
risks involved in the design and selection process and ways to
mitigate these risks using the latest technology available.
All technical work associated with the workshop is performed by MSE in parallel with a project in order that:
-
The workshop does not dilute the contractor’s efforts or make excessive demands on oil company executives
-
Your project derives maximum benefit from the knowledge, expertise and experience of high calibre engineers
-
State-of-the-art technologies are used for your project
-
Your project benefits from new ideas and best industry practices
-
It is cost-effective, produces tangible results and adds value
-
Your entire management team will be briefed in one day

Compressor
Assets Workshops (GCT4) |
These
workshops are aimed at those of you who are engaged in a
specific project involving gas compressor design,
selection, procurement and modifications and need a
specific aspect of your compressor system analysed in
detail. This could be compressor design audit,
compressor process control, compressor operational
issues or transient analysis problems.
Two or more companies e.g. an operating company,
partners and contractor can jointly commission the
course and obtain information of real substance and
value to their project.
Tailored to a specific project of yours, the workshop
will thoroughly analyse a major issue you face or issues
related to your clients’ asset. On completion the
results, conclusions and recommendations are presented
to your company management as an interactive workshop,
providing a unique opportunity to focus on the findings
in depth by the entire management team.
This is a bespoke course and content will be
developed in consultation with the course sponsors, with
scope, time and cost limits agreed in advance. MSE will
research and carry out all preparatory work specific to
the project, prior to the presentation.
-
Compressor re-configuration options for an
existing gas lift-export compressor to handle a
satellite field
-
Evaluation compressor bids for an offshore
platform
-
Technical audit of compressor vendor bids
-
Evaluation of alternative process licensors
involving compression systems
-
Operational issues and performance shortfalls
-
Failure investigations
-
Availability issues
MSE also held a workshop on low availability of a
major offshore oil platform, which was caused by poor
performance of the gas lift compression system. Plant
availability increased from 67% to 98% as a result.
