To maximise production from oil and gas assets, gas
compressor and gas turbine performance and reliability are of critical
importance. If these machines are performing well and close to their
design the plant availability would remain high. Loss of machinery
performance precedes equipment failures, which usually results in plant
shutdown and loss of production. Occasional Rotating machinery failures
are unavoidable; if the machinery can be brought back on line quickly, the
adverse effects of machinery failure can be minimised. However, recurrent
machinery failures and extended shut downs are usually a result of a
performance problem or a design fault which requires investigation.
When equipment failure occurs, it is normal practice for clients to first
try to resolve the problem using in-house resources and specialists from
the equipment manufacturers and contractors. When the problem remains
unresolved, the operators need independent outside advice and assistance.
MSE Consultants will discuss the problem with the client and will visit the
site where this can be arranged, including carrying out an offshore survey.
A key element of MSE's approach is reliable data gathering. This includes
design data of the equipment as well as operational data including gas
compositions analysis. |
