Mal-operation of "Inlet Guide Vanes" and "Blow Off Valves" can reduce engine power and can cause engine surging and serious failures. MSE programs can be extended to include the correct operation of IGV as specified by the OEM. It is then possible to compare the actual IGV position against the vendor specifications to determine if the IGV have been installed correctly.

This problem usually occurs when the operator upgrades the original engine and compressor controls supplied by the OEM and replaces these with other suppliers.
