Overview

The available infrastructure was not being optimised for the declining production and there were bottlenecks in the gas compression platform. Comprehensive modelling and study allowed these limitations to be overcome through cost-effective process and machinery modifications.

MSE carried out a comprehensive package of study and modelling work, which included:

  • Modelling the system

  • Performing dynamic and static simulations

  • Optimising the platform and wells using our skills and unique software

  • Redesigning and reconfiguring the system

  • Specifying new equipment

  • Studying third-party gas transportation capacity

  • Forecasting future production capacity

  • Acting as an impartial arbiter between two operating companies

  • Field testing the platform

  • Performance testing of offshore compression system

In the year following the implementation our redesign, the production figures increased by nearly 120%, rising from 1,500 million cubic meters of gas to 3,400 million cubic meters, including third-party. Production was then maintained at similar high levels over the following years.

In addition, a number of satellite fields that would otherwise not have been economically viable were developed and integrated into the system.
