Pro-M
can be used to design centrifugal compressor systems in numerous
industrial applications, including:
- Pipeline gas
compressors
- Flash gas compressors
- Export gas compressors
- Gas lift compressors
- Gas injection compressors
- Refrigeration compressors
- Compressors for refinery applications
- Propane, ethylene and LNG compressors
Single and
Multiple Casings
Running a single compressor casing will
allow the driver to match the compressor speed necessary to achieve
optimum efficiency. Pro-M will determine the conditions required and
produce minimised power consumption.
Where the pressure ratio for a particular
application is too high for a single casing machine, multiple
casings can be calculated using Pro-M.
Inter-casing cooling can be simulated by entering the cooler output
temperature as the compressor suction temperature. This is
illustrated by Case Study Example 2.

It is important to note that in a multiple
compressor casing arrangement, each unit has its own optimum speed
to produce peak efficiency therefore separate drivers will be required as
appropriate. If an attempt is made to drive all
compressor casings at a common speed, the overall efficiency of the
train will be compromised.
In
this instance the design analysis requires software that is more
complex than this release of Pro-M. For further information

designs, please contact info@mse.co.uk.
